When it comes to communicating during an emergency, today there are a number of ways to go.
That's why the 9-1-1 Commission in Lincoln Parish is investing in First Call.
The service alerts people about emergencies through their home phone, cell phone, text messages, or e-mail alerts; you choose which notifications you want to receive.
First Call is only activated in an emergency situation including severe weather, hazardous materials spills, or other emergency situations when time is of the essence.
"Having enough time in case of emergency such as a tornado or hazardous spill is very important. We think this is the first step in providing a warning service for our citizens to keep them safe in a time of danger," said Mayor of Ruston, Dan Hollingsworth.
